Nikola is an athlete and professional archer, soon to be student, and according to him definitely not qualified to talk about these kinds of things:)

Nikola, what is your personal view of Europe?

At the current time, I look at Europe as a very cozy place, despite the territorial and religious wars throughout its history. Besides that, I very much disapprove of the current political tide that’s been sweeping the people and changing their way of life. Europe has become too docile and occupied with its luxurious, safe and comfortable way of life, that it’s robbing them of any and all sense of belonging and attachment towards their neighbors and fellow countrymen. Combine that with the more selfish approach to life that’s being propagated, an approach that cherishes the individual and teaches him to not have respect for his past family, and not care for making a new family, and we will soon face a generation that will only be occupied by its monetary goal and career success, and it will lose any will towards creating a better future for someone other than himself.

In your opinion, what does Europe mean for your home country, Serbia?

Europe, specifically the EU, in the eyes of some Serbian folk, is a path towards economic growth and stability. We in Serbia generally view the rest of Europe through a political lens most of the time, because we feel we’ve been wronged a lot of times in the past. Politics aside, there exists a sense of distant brotherhood, through our shared history and similar culture, especially with eastern Europe and other Slavic nations

Is there anything else you want to say about Europe?

Europe has had some of the greatest people in history, powerful minds that not only invented and discovered era-defining inventions but also possessed an inquisitive trait, which led to the discovery of many non-material things. Europe’s people just need to tap into that rich legacy that’s left behind, find meaning, and let history repeat.
