Project No.: 2018 – DUH – 001
After the otter had died out in many parts of Germany, it finally spreads again. But there is a deadly obstacle for the otter: road traffic. 80 percent of all dead otters were run over by cars! In search of new habitats, they encounter bridges, do not want to swim through the tunnels of the federal highways and are ultimately run over while trying to cross the roads.
The Environmental Action Germany is committed to the protection of the otter by building so-called berms on bridges. These “footpaths” allow the otter to safely cross the road. Only in this way can the Environmental Action Germany enable the otter to expand into new habitats, where it can mix genetically with other stocks and thus rebuild a stable population. You can help save the otter from cruel road deaths:
The Environmental Action Germany would like to rebuild another small bridge with a berm, which costs 4,000 euros.
